Family History First Generation Robert Williamson Henderson-3 was born 1 on 29 Sep 1877 in #4 Haddow Street, Hamilton Scotland. He died 2, 3 on 24 Nov 1938 in St Theresa Hospital, Tisdale, SK Canada. He was buried 4 on 26 Nov 1938 in Tisdale Cemetery, Tisdale, SK Canada..

The Following Information Compiled By "Bob" Henderson (son) 1996 Robert and Rose first farmed S/E Sec 25,Twp 23, Range 9 west of 3rd Meridian near Lucky Lake. They either rented or purchased the land from E.J.Britten. They moved N/E of Lucky Lake about 1922 to Sec 31, Twp 23, R 7, W of 3rd. This land was purchased from a Mr.E.R. Evans and they farmed there until 1933. When they left Lucky Lake in 1933 they owed $3700.00 on the section of land, and just walked away from it. This section is close to the river and is now irrigated. Dad returned to the dealer a 15/30 McCormick Deering tractor, a combine, swather, plow and other equipment which was mostly paid for. Dave Benny drove the horses with the wagons to Tisdale, Sask. ,and the Henderson Family traveled by car. The "Star" car was sold after arrival at Tisdale. They bought the N/E 1/4 of Sec 14, Twp 45 W of 2nd M from Alfred Lightfoot. Dad cleared land and farmed there until his death in 1938. Mother sold the land in 1948?

(Information from Percy Jones, 1994) After Mother and Dad moved from their first farm S/E 25-23-8 W3rd in 1922, a Mr. Charlie Creighton farmed it until 1925. Mr. David Unrue bought the land and sold it to Mr. Bill Fairburn in the early 70s. When he died his daughter Jean Evens inherited it and now her son- in-law Bruce Duhanne farms it. The land located at Sec 31-23-7-W3rd went back to Mr. E.R. Evans who went bankrupt and lost all his land to the Mortgage Co., Osler, Hammond & Nanton. Ambrose Sleminiski (changed his last name to Saunders) farmed the land for the mortgage company. He later purchased the land. Ambrose , Clarence Hansen and a nephew of Clarence Hanson drowned in Deifenbaker Lake on the day that the dam was officially opened. He left 1/2 of his land to his wife and 1/2 to to his sons Evan and Wayne. Evan was killed in a plane crash. Evan's wife Audrey still has land and rents it out. Wayne farmed the Henderson place and in 1990 he borrowed 1.6 million to install irrigation on 2 1/2 sections, he went bankrupt in 1993 and was forced to sell all his land and machinery. The Henderson place is now farmed by (1996) Doug Dycke a good farmer.

The Henderson barn was sold by Saunders about 1969 to Tommy Ostrander and moved to his farm about 15 miles S/E of Lucky Lake. The rest of the buildings were burned about that time. Percy Jones planted crop every year of the drought, they received seed and 4 or 5 barrels of fuel each year from relief. No crop until 1938 when wheat went 18 bushels per acre. They lived on the meat and milk from the cattle which fed on thistles.

Percy remembers Dad digging a dougout with horses (see picture), however the well water was was unfit to drink. Dad hauled drinking water from Whitby school also from the Jack McGregor farm. Percy also remembers Dad having one of the first radios in the district. It had a big horn (1923).
