Hi All,
I received this interesting email and thought I would share.

---------------------

Hi Robert & Tracy.

I first met your family in 1934 as a youngster of 11 years of age. Its quite a story,
my father worked on Simon Hewitt's threshing outfit when they threshed you father's
crop that year.

My father and I came up from Parkbeg, Saskatchewan early in the spring of that year
with an outfit of horses and the bare necessities. We settled on the bush farm and broke 5
acres, built a log shanty and a barn. My mother, brothers and sister remained at Parkbeg
until November 1st of the same year.

When threshing began, at my age of 11, my father arranged with Simon Hewitt that I
remain at his place while father w as engaged on the Hewitt Threshing crew starting at
the farm of Joe Brain. Mervin Hewitt drove the old Hart Par tractor pulling the thresh
machine while his father drove his truck. From the Brain farm, Mervin and I walked to the
Hewitt farm where I spent a couple weeks. Those were the days when Mervin was courting
your sister Peggy, so we stopped at your farm and your mother generously brought out
tea and pastries for us. My goodness how rapidly 75 years have passed!!!

I left the area in the mid 40s and spent some 30 years in the grain business
in Southern Alberta  with the Wheat Pool before moving the Vancouver Island where
I have resided for 35 years. Clicking into the Tisdale Recorder I found your family tree was
most interesting. The photos brought back a lot of fond memories.

The Seierstad family has been reduced to three of us, my oldest brother Eric passed away
six years ago, Lloyd left us three years ago leaving my sister Irene, my brother Iver and I.

 With best wishes,

John Seierstad
